On “Being Good”

I recently signed myself up for one of the promotional subscriptions to the NYT and in an effort to get my four bucks worth, I’ve been reading it through each day. Today I read an article (below) that highlighted seven other topics or lessons we learned (aside from Covid) this year. A lot of them stuck out to me, so I might do this for the other six eventually. But for now I wanted to save this one on “Being Good” and mention the “9 ways to do good” written in the piece. All articles, authors, and links are below.

The list of 7 things included:

  1. Complaining is sometimes good for you
  2. You should stop saving your money
  3. It’s fine to leave your phone plugged in all day
  4. If you procrastinate, stop trying to manage your time. Manage your emotions.
  5. Being a good person is simpler than you think
  6. To have a better night’s sleep, slow down in the evenings
  7. Self-awareness is key to emotional intelligence

I think all of these links are worth clicking on and reading at one point. But the one that stuck out as the most in line with my personal interests was number 5. Being a good person is simpler than you think. Below is a little summary of the article discussing “How to Be Good”.

Sometimes there’s a place for corny quotes. This felt like one.
