When Two Songs Sound Too Similar

Have you ever heard a song that reminds you of another and you can’t for the life of you figure it out?

Recently, this happened to me and for days I couldn’t think of it even though it was right on the tip of my tongue.

When I do work that requires me to really focus, I sometimes zone on with classical or instrumental music. I had been shuffling through the Spotify “Peaceful Piano” playlist for a few days and there was this one song that immediately sounded like something I had heard before. Here it is:

Mainly the beginning part was what I felt like I knew or had heard. After a few days I managed to figure out that it was an Ingrid Michaelson song I was thinking of (you know when you’re trying to think of a name and then suddenly you think of just the right first letter and it all goes from there) so I looped in my friend, Francesca (Ingrid super fan) who figured it out in about 6 seconds.

Here’s what song I was thinking of….

Hear it? Maybe not lol. I even made my other friend, Crim (another Ingrid fan.. also turns out me, Francesca, Crim, and many of our friends were all at the same Ingrid concert and didn’t know), listen both songs simultaneously when I had her over for dinner.

I took it a step further and did a very amateur blend of the two songs on my first ever garage band project for my new computer. Here’s the finished product:
