Christmas Dessert: Chocolate Cake for Beginners

I’m not really a baker. I enjoy making cookies, loaf breads (banana bread), anything with zucchini in it, muffins, even cupcakes, and of course anything from a box, but that’s usually where I draw the line. They seem pretty forgiving overall.

But this Christmas I decided I’d finally try and bake a proper cake. I even was able to get cake pans delivered in two days. It took me a bit to land on a recipe that seemed within my skill level but I finally found one! If you haven’t noticed, I tend to make a lot of stuff from Half Baked Harvest. And this really does sound quite simple.

I’m sure there will be some mix ups while baking this but it also looks fairly forgiving! So we’ll see. I’ll also have my brother, Brady, the family baker on speed dial. Below is the recipe.

I found this tip at the bottom of the recipe worth mentioning. I also find myself forgetting to bring the eggs to room temp. So all hacks are welcome.

*To quickly bring eggs to room temperature place them in a bowl and fill with warm water. Let them sit five minutes.
